Flowers Foods, Inc., producer of Nature’s Own, Dave’s Killer Bread, Wonder, Tastykake, and other bakery foods, has announced that Eric Mathis has joined Flowers as senior vice president and chief procurement officer, effective November 2, 2020. Mathis will report to Steve Kinsey, chief financial officer and chief accounting officer, and be responsible for managing the company's programs for sourcing, procurement, and supply management at Flowers.

“We’re tremendously excited Eric has joined Flowers to lead the procurement team’s efforts for the company,” commented Kinsey. “His extensive experience in the food and commodities sectors, as well as his cost containment and management expertise, will be a key support for our continuing priority to improve margins.” 

Mathis was most recently vice president of global sourcing at Krispy Kreme Doughnut Corporation. Prior to that, he was with Mondelez International as the director of global procurement for the gum and candy category. Mathis has held a number of procurement-related roles with consumer packaged goods companies, including Alberto-Culver, Wise Foods, Inc., Schwan’s Bakery, Inc., President Baking Co., Sara Lee Bakery, and the Archer-Daniels-Midland Company.    

Mathis holds a bachelor’s degree in agricultural economics from the University of Illinois.
