United Dairy Farmers plans to invest $11 million into a new manufacturing facility, where it will be making its own doughnuts.

Existing office space at 7745 E. Kemper Road will be transformed into a manufacturing facility. UDF contacted Sycamore Townhips's zoning commission to file an application to start the process.

"One of our key strategies is to grow our fresh food offerings, from grab and go meals to natural snacks, salads, wraps and soups," UDF head of human resources Mark Wilson said.

Initially, the new faiclity will have 30 new jobs, eventually with 50 total employees. The new facility will take up 27,800 square feet for manufacturing and 17,700 square feet for office space.

Busken Bakery currently makes doughnuts for UDF, in 130 of its 170 locations, and has been doing so for the past three decades. In 2005, Busken piloted doughnuts and then began serving them in 130 locations. Busken will continue to serve doughnuts for UDF through August.
