According to recent Mintel research, total US retail sales of ready to eat popcorn have grown 118 percent from 2012-2017, with interest in innovative ‘both familiar and unexpected’ flavors and packaging peaking consumer interest.

The new Pop Art Snacks packaging, this time inspired by Pop Art reminiscent of Roy Lichtenstein, follows suit for the company’s original vision to celebrate this artistic movement with bold graphics on each bag, offering consumers a full sensory experience and a hint of the bold flavor to be expected from the product inside.

In addition to the new packaging, Pop Art Snacks has also enhance each of the current skus by adding avocado oil. As a response to the popularity of their Hawaiian Sea Salt with Avocado Oil variety, Pop Art Snacks quickly realized the consumer demand for this healthy ingredient in snack foods. “Our Hawaiian Sea Salt with Avocado Oil popcorn, quickly went to our best selling sku in its first six months on the market,” says Venessa Dobson, co-founder of Pop Art Snacks. “Much of the success with this sku is due to the avocado oil. The avocado oil offers a creamy texture, almost like butter, but is much healthier for you. The sales of avocado oil have soared in recent years, as the better-for-you consumer is looking for healthier options in their snacking.”

Pop Art Snacks is currently available in over 1,000 retailers nationwide. This spring, Sprouts will launch three skus: Hawaiian Sea Salt with Avocado Oil, Cheddar Jalapeno, and Pepper Parmesan (5 oz. bag, MSRP $3.99) in Sprouts stores nationwide, and Costco Wholesale will launch the Gingerbread Caramel variety in stores within the San Diego region in the fall.
