Western Foods has announced that their existing proprietary pathogen reduction has now been validated for gluten-free rice by a third-party industry renowned laboratory and has been named púro. Their all-natural process was designed and installed in their Woodland, California flour mill years ago and is being utilized in their new state of the art rice and ancient grain mill in Pine Bluff, Arkansas. They created a system to eliminate harmful levels of bacteria that does not use radiation or any chemical fumigants which allows organic, gluten-free, and non-GMO claims to still be added to labels. Plus, the process is gentle on ingredients to ensure their physical and organoleptic characteristics and, thereby, protecting the functionality of all the ingredients.
“It’s nice to finally put a name to the process we have long utilized to help keep our customers’ products safer for them and their customers,” said Miguel Reyna, the company’s founder and CEO. “Plus, with the addition of our new facility in Pine Bluff, combined with this proprietary process, we are in a better position to serve the whole domestic and international market.”
