On October 18, at its headquarters in Burgdorf, RONDO welcomed the Portuguese state president, Mr. Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, and the Federal President of Switzerland, Mr. Johann N. Schneider-Ammann.
State president Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa visited Switzerland for two days. The Swiss dual education system was one of the main topics of his state visit. The Federal President of Switzerland, Mr. Johann N. Schneider-Ammann therefore showed the Portuguese president a worldwide successful company, which is actively engaged in the training of apprentices. Michael P. Witzak, CEO of RONDO group, said: "We are proud that we have been chosen as a flagship company and role model for vocational education. Apprenticeship training has a very high status at RONDO. Currently, 29 apprentices are trained in 5 different professions.”
For decades, apprenticeship training has been a tradition at RONDO Burgdorf AG. Currently the company offers the professions polytechnician, design engineer, commercial clerk, metal worker and logistician. At RONDO, the apprentices learn the practical skills needed for their profession. For this purpose, they work in the production, assembling and administration departments. The basic technical education takes place in the in-house training workshop. For one or two days per week the apprentices visit the professional school to gain the theoretical knowledge.
Michael P. Witzak and the RONDO apprentices explained the Swiss dual education system to Mr. Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa. The prospective design engineers Fanny Schwarzenbach and Lars Habegger, as well as the polytechnician apprentice Stephan Widmer explained their tasks and work and spoke about their future plans. Afterwards, the guests experienced the production of croissants in the RONDO Dough-how Center. The visit ended with a sampling of a range of pastry products produced on RONDO lines.
