Steven Roberts Original Desserts, Denver, and its subsidiary, Tickleberry Desserts, selected a vacant bakery in Robeson County, N.C., for an East Coast expansion project. The dessert maker is said to expect to create 342 jobs and invest $4 million during the next five years.
The company plans to purchase and renovate a 100,000-sq.-ft. building in Pembroke that, since 1991, housed Daniels Bakery, Mrs. Smith Bakery and George’s Food.
Founded in 1995, Steven Roberts Original Desserts produces cheesecakes, layer cakes, pies, tarts, cookies and other dessert items for restaurants and hotels. Tickleberry Desserts are sold through grocery stores and bakeries, including Whole Foods Market, Sam’s Club and Target.
