Wilbur’s of Maine Chocolate Confections will celebrate its grand reopening and 35th anniversary on Aug. 4.
Wilbur’s has completed major renovations at its factory store on Lower Main Street in Freeport, Maine. The celebration will include chocolate samples, children’s activities, local vendor tastings, a ceremonial ribbon-cutting and complimentary factory tours. With expanded event space, Wilbur’s looks to host community and family events.
Founded in 1983 by Tom Wilbur and Catherine Carty-Wilbur, Wilbur’s of Maine Chocolate Confections began as a chocolate and candy store on Bow Street in Downtown Freeport, Maine. Tom, and the Wilburs’ son, Andy, expanded the chocolate line, while Catherine opened retail locations in Brunswick and at the factory in Freeport.
In 2016, The Wilburs transitioned ownership to Andy, who is leading the company through updated facilities, innovative new flavors and tried-and-true recipes you already love. Wilbur’s of Maine makes confections in small batches, using the finest ingredients.
