Production at Just Born Quality Confections’ manufacturing facilities in Philadelphia and Bethlehem, Pa. will remain suspended through at least April 20, the company announced Thursday.
Just Born’s Peeps & Co. store in Center Valley will also remain closed, and its office employees will continue to work remotely through April 20. All Just Born employees will continue to be paid.
The company announced last month the closures would originally be in effect until April 7. During this time, Just Born is cleaning and sanitizing its production facilities, offices and corporate headquarters.
“Our internal COVID-19 task force continues to regularly monitor the domestic and worldwide impact of the virus and is following recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and local and state health and government authorities,” Just Born said in a statement. “We will get back to producing our iconic brands as soon as we can, and so we ask for your understanding and support until that time comes.”
All of Just Born’s Peeps have been produced and shipped to retailers for Easter. The company still has inventory of Mike and Ike, Hot Tamales and Goldenberg's Peanut Chews, but they may go out of stock on individual items.
“Just Born and its iconic brands have been around a long time bringing sweetness to people’s lives, and we will continue to do so for many years to come,” the statement reads.
