M&M's new trailer will bring a sweet, humorous spin to the 2015 Academy Awards on Sunday.
The 30-second spot, which will make its debut on ABC during the Oscars, will feature all six of the M&M's "spokescandies" in an action-packed spoof of movie trailers.
Orange will drive a runaway bus, while Red will interrogate an alleged criminal and Blue will jump out of a burning building.
J.K. Simmons, nominated this year for Actor in a Supporting Role for his part in the movie "Whiplash," is also the voice of Yellow and has worked with the brand for almost 20 years. M&M's created a life-like mosaic of the actor, made entirely of M&M's chocolates, to celebrate Simmons's nomination.
The BBDO-produced commercial is designed to mock movie previews and highlight how M&M's make every movie-watching experience better. In fact, the spot so closely resembles a movie trailer that viewers might start to believe that "M&M's: The Movie" is soon to hit theaters.
Sunday marks the TV debut of the commercial, while a variant of it ran in cinemas nationwide throughout 2014. In that version, the M&M's spokescandies starred in a public service announcement asking audiences to turn off their cell phones.
