Innophos Holdings Inc. has announced its continued commitment to supporting science education and leadership. For the second year in a row, Innophos is partnering with the Chemical Educational Foundation (CEF), to sponsor its You Be the Chemist Essential Elements program. In addition, Innophos was a sponsor at the Annual Gala for the American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE), the world's leading organization for chemical engineering professionals.
“We are thrilled to partner with organizations dedicated to inspiring the next generation of scientists, engineers and chemical industry leaders,” said Kim Ann Mink, Ph.D., chairman, president and chief executive officer. “At Innophos, science and innovation are at the heart of our business and we are committed to fostering science literacy and sparking curiosity starting at an early age. The CEF and AIChE programs play an important role in improving the quality of STEM education to students of all ages.”
The CEF Essential Elements program offers primary and middle school educators access to resources and support to conduct hands-on STEM-based learning in the classroom, at no cost to the school or participating educators. Innophos’ sponsorship will support Essential Elements school workshops in local communities and will provide needed supplies and educational resources.
The 2017 AIChE Gala, which took place on December 6 at the Essex House in New York City, recognized companies and their leaders for inspiring the next generation of engineers. Funds contributed by Innophos and other event supporters will help enable programs that diversify, strengthen and retain undergraduate engineering students and improve pre-college STEM education.
