Equipment Snapshot: Ross horizontal storage tanks offer robust construction, long service life and flexible customization to meet any special requirements, according to Charles Ross & Son Co. The recently completed, straight-wall, horizontal tank shown measures 96 inches (outer diameter) by 162 inches and features saddles designed, fabricated and stamped for full vacuum to 60 pounds per square inch gauge at 300°F in accordance with ASME Section VIII Division 1. Approximate holding volume is 6,017 gallons.
Interior surfaces of the carbon steel tank were abrasive-blasted to SSPC-SP 10 (near-white metal) and thoroughly cleaned prior to purging with nitrogen to minimize rusting during shipment. The exterior was blasted, primed and coated with a customer-specified paint. The tank includes lifting lugs; four 2-inch, 3000-pound couplings with 3000-pound screwed plugs; and a 24-inch, 150-pound FFSO manway with hinge, gauge and ball valve.
