An explosion occurred at approximately 1:30 a.m. today on the fourth floor of Corbion Caravan’s seven-story manufacturing facility in Kansas City, Kan. Three Corbion Caravan employees were injured. Two of the injured workers are receiving treatment at a local hospital; the third has been released.
The Kansas City area fire crew and emergency personnel responded quickly to the fire alarm and wrapped up their work around 2:45 a.m.
In a press release, the company said, “The safety and well-being of our employees is the top priority for us. A full investigation is underway into the cause of the explosion. We do not expect any business disruption to our customers, as we have back up inventories and expect the facility to be fully operational within the next 24-48 hours.”
The Kansas City facility produces dry-blend ingredients for sale to the bakery, food and beverage industries.
