The Independent Bakers Association (IBA) has announced that the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) will hold additional public meetings to discuss new proposals under the Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA): Proposed Rules for Produce Safety and for the Preventive Controls for Human Food.
The meetings will be held Feb. 28-March 1 at the USDA’s Jefferson Auditorium in Washington, D.C.; March 11-12 at The Westin Michigan Avenue in Chicago; and March 27-28 at the Crowne Plaza Portland Downtown Convention Center in Portland, Ore.
The meetings are intended to open communication between the public and FDA administrators regarding the purpose and implications of the rules. Attendance registration is recommended and can be done online at ppleventreg.com/FDA-FoodSafety-IL-OR/?source=govdelivery.
IBA is drafting comments on both proposed rules as well as on the recent school snacks rule proposed by the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA). The group encourages its members to share their thoughts for IBA’s comments.
