They’re the highlight of every lunchbox, the perfect foil to a glass of milk, the cure-all remedy of grandmothers, co-workers and best friends the world over. There is simply no wrong time to have a cookie—or make a dozen or two.
Pastry Chicago, an organization comprised of passionate people who love all forms of pastry, is seeking 25 cookie enthusiasts to participate in its Fifth Annual Amateur Cookie Competition. The event will be held on Aug. 25 from 2-4 p.m. at Whole Foods-South Loop at 1101 S. Canal St. in Chicago. This year’s cookie theme is almond and California raisin.
While the cookies are being judged, participants can enjoy a free pastry demonstration by Chef Della Gossett of The French Pastry School of Kennedy-King College at City Colleges of Chicago. Contestants also will have a chance to win a KitchenAid stand mixer (the grand prize), as well as other KitchenAid equipment.
Only the first 25 entries will be accepted for the competition. For more information and to registration, visit http://pastrychicago.org.
