The new buns are made with a blend of enriched white flour and special “white” whole-wheat flour that gives the buns the taste, look and texture of traditional white bread buns, but with the added nutrition benefits of whole grain.

Twinkies were originally filled with banana crème until a banana shortage during World War II caused the bakers to switch to vanilla créme.
