Managing editor Marina Mayer sounds off on her favorite new products from 2009 in hopes that bakers and snack producers will produce more of them this year.

My Favorite Things

Crunch, crunch, mmmm…. hear that? It’s the sound of music, or just the sound of me sitting in my cubicle taste-testing new products. In case anyone is listening, here is a rundown of “my favorite things:”

Flavored tortillas and decadent snack cakes,
Hybrid cookies and anything baked,
many of this year’s products were designed to please,
these are a few of my favorite things.

Veggie Krinkle Sticks and Sweet Lady Janes,
original, non-spicy and anything plain,
Nature’s Ownbread andLittle Debbiebrownies,
these are a few of my favorite things.

Snack-size packaging and 100 calories,
Coffee cakes andCombosand anything with cheese,
jerky that tastes great and gives you caffeine,
these are a few of my favorite things.

Crunchy whole-grain crackers and slider buns,
gluten-free snacks that don’t give you the runs,
ready-to-eat desserts and on-the-go treats,
these are a few of my favorite things.

Large brownie trays that melt in your mouth,
healthier Lunchables make me so proud,
somewhat spicy with a bit of a zing,
these are a few of my favorite things.

2009 brought a ton of new products,
some with extra fiber, vitamins and antioxidants,
mini pound cakes and chip flavors that don’t sting,
these are a few of my favorite things.

Cookies and snack cakess are leading the way,
while some prefer to eat healthy, I like to stray,
please keep the chocolate and goodness coming,
cuz these are just a few of my favorite things.
