Valley Stream, N.Y.-based Chocolate Works will open its first Brooklyn location in Brooklyn Heights tomorrow. The 110 Montague St. location represents the franchise's tenth retail shop and franchisee Shlomi Avdoo’s second store.
Avdoo, who owns a Chocolate Works store on the Upper West Side store at 641 Amsterdam Ave. — which was the company’s first location in Manhattan — is already looking for a space in Park Slope, Brooklyn to open his third store.
"I absolutely love the concept," explains Avdoo. "My first store was such an overwhelming success, I knew I had to open more."
Although it took him two years to find the "the perfect space to host the [Chocolate Works] flagship Brooklyn store,” Avdoo says it was well worth the wait.
"Who doesn't love chocolate and sweets?” he asks. “Between the residents, tourists, neighborhood schools, churches, and synagogues, the support and enthusiasm we've already received has been tremendous. We are excited to be such a creative part of this bustling community."
The Brooklyn Heights store will be open seven days a week and plans to offer chocolate-making workshops daily.
The Chocolate Works franchise concept is the brainchild of second-generation chocolatier and owner, Joe Whaley, a West Point graduate and Iraq war veteran. Whaley’s family has been crafting and selling high quality gourmet chocolates for more than 40 years.
What sets Chocolate Works apart is its unique 3-tier model for satisfying the public's sweet tooth. The combination of chocolate and candy retail, on-site parties and workshops, and custom corporate products, offers multiple opportunities to generate revenue and community relationships.
