After 38 years the Los Angeles-based Candy Factory — as is the case with so many other Hollywood stars — is getting a face lift. Owner Frank Sheftel proudly unveiled a remodeled retail area recently, which now includes a full-service Candy & Chocolate Shop and a Sundae Bar.
Sheftel has teamed up with Dandy Don's Homemade Ice Cream, a Southern Californian icon who started a portable sundae bar business back in 1995, and is serving up the locally made frozen treats with multiple toppings.
“The store now has a distinct new look that can easily be replicated in multiple locations for franchising opportunities,” adds Sheftel.” We are currently scouting new locations to open up turnkey Candy Factory stores. We still have our full line of candy making supplies and offer customized candy for any occasion.”
In addition, Sheftel says the company’s celebrity line of candies continues to do well. The Candy Factory has made chocolates for the who’s who of Hollywood, hence the moniker, “Candy Maker to the Stars.”
Its client list includes Oscar, Emmy, Tony, Grammy, Olympic and World Champions from around the world, including Tom Hanks, Michael Jackson and Lisa Marie Presley, Chaka Khan and Tai Babilonia. Candy Factory also produces the official VIP favors for opening night at The Hollywood Bowl every year.
“Most recently, we’ve teamed up with Susan Olsen (aka Cindy Brady) on her new confectionery line of Candy Puppy Poop & Kitten Crap,” says Sheftel. Olsen’s line of chocolates is doing very well and being distributed through First Source, he says. The line is currently going into 70 Rocket Fizz Stores across the country.
