See’s Candies has reopened its candy kitchens in San Francisco and Los Angeles after closing them as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Pat Egan, See’s president and CEO, wrote in a letter to customers that the company worked through “every step in the process” to make sure it was safe to reinitiate production and open its shops.
“As we continue to manage through these unprecedented times, the health and safety of our employees and customers remains our top priority,” Egan wrote. “...We’re focused on making the best candy possible and caring for our customers. One of the best ways we can do that is to make all the necessary improvements to ensure we’re living up to your expectations in every aspect of how See’s operates.”
See’s Candies suspended production at the end of March but resumed production in April. Egan added the company is working to restock its inventory, noting no items have been discontinued during the closure.
See’s Candies has also launched the contact-free Click... Pick... & Go program. At select locations, customers can order online and pick up at a participating shop. There are designated pickup areas outside participating stores that support social distancing. Egan said See’s will continue to roll this out to more locations.
Additionally, Egan said See’s Candies will offer shipping promotions throughout the summer, even with the added cost of ice packs and insulation.
