Consumers are demanding that confectionery companies use sustainable and ethical ingredients. However, sourcing those ingredients, many of which are produced internationally, can be a challenge.

Cameron Plese, with the Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil, will offer candy manufacturers guidance on using sustainable and ethical palm oil, including background on how the RSPO works, how sustainability is determined, how your company can become RSPO Certified, and what the organization’s goals are for the future.

The event also will feature time for Plese to answer audience questions live in real-time.

Plese is the head of North America for the Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO), a not-for-profit, international membership organization that unites stakeholders to develop and implement global standards for sustainable palm oil production. Plese has worked in international environmental conservation and policy in Latin America, East Africa, the United States and Asia, while working with various international organizations and NGOs. He holds a master’s degree in sustainable international development from the Heller School for Social Policy and Management at Brandeis University.
