According to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), tests performed by the California Department of Public Health showed that the candy contained 0.24 parts per million of lead. The amount surpassed the U.S. limit of 0.1 and led to U.S. authorities issuing an immediate recall. 

"That potentially could cause health problems, particularly for infants, small children, and pregnant women," says the FDA. 

Although the Indiana-based company, Circle City Marketing and Distributing, doing business as Candy Dynamics, which imports the product, has not received any reports of illness, the candy cannot safely stay in the U.S. market. 

The recall will include all flavors and types of the bar made from 2007 until January 2011.
