Patrick Huffman (pictured), president of the Warrell Corp., will retire on June 5,as part of the long-planned transition back to family management of the candy company, which is celebrating its 50th anniversary.
Huffman will remain involved in the confectionery arena through his organization activities with PMCA, NCA, AACT, RCI, and all of his friends in the industry.
Indeed, he has deep roots in the confectionery industry, winning the 2013 Candy Industry Kettle Award and being inducted into the Candy Hall of Fame that same year.
As David Hess, v.p. of operations for the Warrell Corp. and himself an experienced candy maker and executive, said of Huffman after he won the Kettle Award, “Pat’s the best I’ve met in the industry. He has character, business ability and technical expertise. Many people have two out of three; he has all three.”
As for a successor, Kevin Silva has been elected to the position of president/coo of The Warrell Corporation as of June 1 2015, reporting to the Board of Directors.
Silva will manage the continued growth of the business in current and new areas, the company says. He hasheld leadership roles in the Pennsylvania Dutch Candies Division, Supply Chain Management, Quality Assurance, Customer Service and Administration. Kevin has a BA in Economics from Gettysburg College and his MBA from Penn State University, Smeal College of Business.
In addition, Richard Warrell has been elected to the position of executive v.p., sales and marketingas of June 1.Warrell will work hand-in-hand with Silva to expand sales and gather new customers in all sales segments of the business.
Warrell holds a bachelor's degree in food marketing from St. Joseph's University and a M.S. in organizational dynamics from the University of Pennsylvania.
