Just in time for the football tailgating season, Wolfgang Candy Co. has launched Penn State Pretzel Fudgies, the first product in a series of licensed NCAA products for the company.
“My family has been making chocolate-covered pretzels in Pennsylvania for almost 100 years. This is a great way to celebrate our company heritage and to support a great university. After all, We are…Penn State,” says Ben McGlaughlin, Wolfgang Candy Co’s ceo.
This indulgent treat is made from premium baked large pretzels, salted and then covered in Wolfgang’s Olde-World white fudge family recipe and drizzled in a special Penn State blue pinstripe coating.
“Penn State Pretzel Fudgies deliver the perfect combination of sweet and salty. This is a fantastic tasting product designed to celebrate the Penn State spirit,” says Andy Jacobs, Wolfgang Candy Co.’s president. “Our broker network is already requesting that we add universities in other markets.”
The pretzel fudgies are packed in 8.0-oz. Penn State logo boxes and specially handcrafted in small batch production at Wolfgang’s Das Sweeten Haus manufacturing location in York, Pa. They have a suggested retail price of $5.99-$6.99.
A portion of the proceeds from the sale of of the pretzel fudgies will go to the university under a licensed agreement between Wolfgang and the Collegiate Licensing Co..
To help launch the Penn State Pretzel Fudgies, Wolfgang is searching for the biggest Penn State fan to be the official product spokesperson.
Starting Aug. 31, Wolfgang will be holding a contest on their Facebook page for fans to let them know why they should be the Penn State Pretzel Fudgies “spokesFAN.” The official “spokesFAN” will receive a $1,000 prize, six cases of Wolfgang Penn State Pretzel Fudgies and will be used in promotion of the new product.
The Wolfgang Penn State Pretzel Fudgies are available at local retailers, in Wolfgang’s school fundraising programs, at McLanahan's in State College and also on-line.
