Lindt & Sprüngli is leaving Russia, the Swiss company announced Tuesday.
In March, Lindt said it would temporarily suspend business operations in Russia following the country’s invasion of Ukraine.
On Lindt’s Russian website, the company posted the following statement:
“Unfortunately, we need to inform you that after careful consideration, Lindt & Sprüngli Group has made the difficult decision to exit the Russian market. We will support our employees in Russia and act in accordance with local regulations. We are grateful for your loyalty over the years.”
In March, outgoing CEO Dieter Weisskopf told European Supermarket Magazine it had eight stores and approximately 125 employees in Russia. Weisskopf added Russia and Ukraine represent about 1 percent of the company’s business.
