Theegarten-Pactec is embarking on a new construction project in an effort to meet demand for smaller projects and more automation.
The existing company site in Dresden, Germany is being expanded to 50,000 sq. meters (538, 196 sq. ft.).
The ground-breaking ceremony for the all-new building complex, which will be used for production facilities and office space, will be in the spring 2014. And the project is slated to be completed by mid-2017.
All told, the project will cost more than €30 million, or about $40.2 million, to construct.
“We have outgrown our existing premises,” explains Managing Director Markus Rustler. “The additional floor space is a fundamental resource in terms of our long-term growth objectives. Not only do the premises provide us with more space, they are also optimally tailored to our production program. We already meet great demand as a system provider and orders for packaging lines are set to continue to increase.”
The previous buildings were geared toward the production of large series of individual models. But, the emphasis today is on a small series combined with complete automated feeding and distribution lines. The new facility will enable the required organizational structure to be established and will ensure manufacturing based on a short-distances model.
A 15 percent growth buffer compared to current requirements has been provided for in terms of office and production space.
Theegarten-Pactec expects to add as many as 50 new jobs to its current staff of 350 employees as a result of the project.
Moreover, additional existing acreage takes into account the next stage of future growth.
In-depth planning will enable relocation to be carried out in stages, while operations remain on-going without major disturbance.
“The project represents a huge challenge for us alongside our day-to-day business activities. But we are looking forward to tackling it as it will enable us to secure our future,” says Rustler.
Theegarten-Pactec manufactures about 120 packaging systems consisting of machines and feeding components a year in Dresden, and 90 percent of the lines are exported.
