Cocoa, chocolate signatory companies take proactive steps in CFI 2.0 to eliminate deforestation.

With support from the World Cocoa Foundation and The Sustainable Trade Initiative, companies and governments have renewed their commitment towards eliminating deforestation and restoring forest areas.
Ferrero has published its third report showcasing its progress under the Cocoa & Forests Initiative – a comprehensive program of projects delivered across Ghana and Côte d’Ivoire to help end deforestation and preserve forests.
The Government of Colombia — along with its two largest cocoa companies, Casa Luker and Compañía Nacional de Chocolates, and the National Cocoa Federation — has committed to eliminate deforestation from the country’s cocoa supply chain by 2020.
In a just released report titled “Chocolate’s Dark Secret,” Mighty Earth, a global environmental campaign organization, claimed that 90 percent of protected national parks in the Ivory Coast have been deforested for growing cocoa while Ghana was undergoing a similar process.
