Kraft Foods opened its new European biscuit research
and development center in Saclay, France. The new facility represents the culmination of a two-year-project
with a total investment of approximately $20 million.
Grupo Bimbo is in the final stages of negotiations with the U.S. Department of Justice on its acquisition of Sara Lee Corp.’s fresh bakery business in the United States and its fresh bakery business in Spain and Portugal.
All Things Baking, which took place Oct. 2-4 in Schaumburg, Ill., lived

show.” Thousands of attendees showed up ready to take advantage of the
education, hands-on demonstrations, bakery tours and latest innovations
from 145 leading vendors.
