The 2,400-sq.-ft. store, located at Michigan Avenue and Wacker Drive, now features an open floor plan and simple, elegant décor meant to draw new and repeat customers to the iconic Chicago brand, owned by 1-800-Flowers.
It wasn’t long before she whisked me to the Tootsie Roll production area to view a continuous slab of that wonderful chocolate-like confection falling onto a conveyor belt.
"Eliminating positions is a difficult decision to make,” says Bob Simpson, the company’s president and coo. “This move to private-label manufacturing is a forward thinking step for the best deployment of the Illinois facility and the company overall.”
“Both the customer base and the product line is different from Arway, and I believe that the combination of Arway and Long Grove will offer some great synergies,” says Craig Leva, Arway’s president and owner.
