Dona Edwards, president of Edward Marc Brands for 13 years (2007–2020), and co-creator of Snappers Crafted Snacks, passed away unexpectedly at home on Friday, November 25.
As a 40-year chocolate industry veteran, Dona became known to many in Pittsburgh as the ‘Candy Lady’ always giving chocolate to those she met. She was dedicated to the family business she built with her husband, Jeff, and three children, Chris, Dana, and Mark. She embodied drive, passion, and leadership that was felt by everyone she touched. As the family business grew, she felt most at home at her original chocolate shop in Pittsburgh’s Southside neighborhood selling boxed chocolates and talking to customers. Dona thrived in building relationships and passed on her love of chocolate to all she encountered. The family will never forget her larger-than-life spirit and will carry her memory in their hearts forever.
She leaves behind her husband, Jeffrey C. Edwards, as well as children Chris (Albert), Dana (Tom), and Mark (Meaghan). In addition, she had seven grandchildren, two sisters, and was the daughter of the late George C. George and Mary Pappas George.
Friends will be received Tuesday, November 29 from 5:00–8:00 pm at Bock Funeral Home: 1500 Mount Royal Boulevard, Glenshaw, PA, 15116. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, November 30 at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, 985 Providence Boulevard, Pittsburgh, PA 15237. The service will be followed by a private family burial.
