See’s Candies has suspended production and shipping of product as a result of the coronavirus outbreak.
In a statement on its website, the South San Francisco-based company said it was taking guidance from local health authorities.
“See’s is always focused on bringing joy to our customers,” the statement reads. “We will work to keep you updated as we develop plans to safely resume operations.”
The LA Times reported this is the second time in See’s century-long history the company has halted production — the first resulting from rationing during World War II.
See’s opened its first store in Los Angeles in 1921.
