Elk Grove Village, Ill.-based Doumak, a global supplier of marshmallow products, has promoted Mark Schuessler, its v.p. of sales and marketing, to president and ceo. Don Muff, the company’s former director of sales, will take over as v.p. of sales and marketing.
Both Schuessler and Muff, who have been with Doumak for 11 and five years, respectively, took on their new responsibilities this past January.
Previously, Schuessler worked 15 years in the food industry, having spent time at Campbell Soup and Procter and Gamble in sales and financial positions while Muff worked for Silver Springs Citrus and Sathers Candy/Favorite Brands International.
As the company’s new chief executive, Schuessler indicated his objectives were straightforward.
In addition to producing the best quality marshmallow in the world, he says it’s critical to “differentiate ourselves with truly unique innovation in the category.”
Doumak will also “continue to provide outstanding customer service to all channels of trade,” as well as “treat consumers, customers, suppliers and our amazing employees with respect and dignity at all times,” he adds.
Consequently, Schuessler sees a bright future for the company, given the growth potential in the category.
“We continue to see the marshmallow category grow with snack items used as an alternative to high-calorie, high-fat, high-sodium snacks,” he explains. “We also see providing more recipes and craft ideas to connect our family-oriented company and brands to our loyal consumers’ families.”
Schuessler earned his B.S. degree from Georgetown University and his MBA from the University of Chicago. Muff graduated from Iowa State University.
