Production at Au’some Inc.’s first United States-based manufacturing plant is slated to start later this month, the company says.
Spokesman Luciano Nascimento says the Sumter, S.C.-plant is nearly ready.
“We're actually beginning to go through the testing phases and everything that needs to take place before our first production,” he says. "February is our official ribbon-cutting, making sure everything is smooth and any kinks worked out.”
The candy and fruit snack company has a new 100,000-sq.-ft. facility on a 28-acre site and all new production equipment is being installed at the plant.
The facility is expected to have two production lines and will be used to produce the company’s Florida’s NaturalNuggets, and 3Dees Gummies.
The plant, which will create an estimated 120 new jobs, will help Au’some become better equipped to produce and distribute its confections to clients and partners not only in the United States, but also Canada and Europe.
