What happens when you combine hip hop music, candy and inspirational messages?
Apparently, Micheck da Candy — a new novelty candy created by rapper Chuck D, of Public Enemy, and Sensei Aaron, Chuck D’s first MC partner and former bodyguard, in collaboration with CandyRific.
The confection, which debuted at Dylan’s Candy Bar in New York, is a toy microphone that plays inspirational messages from Chuck D and comes with 15 grams of Sweet Maple Candies. Each microphone also includes a website address that links to a free music download from Public Enemy.
The messages focus on self-worth and understanding others.
“This is Chuck D and this is another microphone message for you and the crew,” says Chuck D in a message. “Tell someone you love them and mean it from the heart. You also want to treat people like you want to be treated. This Micheck message from me, myself and I, Chuck D and Mic Messenger Sensei Aaron. We say PEACE!”
During the debut event, Chuck D posed for pictures with visitors who purchased Micheck da Candy, while Aaron gave self-defense demonstrations.
“It’s a world renowned venue and Dylan’s is a great candy innovator and partner,” says CandyRific president, Rob Auerbach.
Micheck da Candy currently only is available at Dylan’s Candy Bar, but it’s slated to be available at stores throughout the U.S. soon.
