Nestlé, the Ivory Coast’s government and the nonprofit Earthworm Foundation are partnering to protect the country’s Cavally Forest Reserve and its endangered species from deforestation.

Fuji Oil Holdings, along with subsidiary Blommer Chocolate Co., have launched two global initiatives to address the most significant issues the cocoa industry faces.

Participating companies have mapped more than one million farms in their direct supply chain and distributed more than 4 million trees to farmers to establish agroforestry systems.

Deerfield, Ill.-based Mondelēz International today announced it will partner with the Forestry Commission of Ghana, Ghana Cocoa Board and United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), to reduce deforestation and forest degradation in the country while simultaneously reducing emissions in its cocoa supply chain.

Alongside leading cocoa and chocolate companies, Côte d’Ivoire and Ghana have adopted new standards to end deforestation and restore forest areas, the countries and companies announced Thursday.
