Keeping its pinky promise of innovating candy that’s sweetened without added sugars, sugar alcohols and artificial sweeteners, each 1.8-oz. bag of Red Twists puts a healthy twist on traditional licorice.

TPG Growth received its stake from SmartSweets’ management and other shareholders. Tara Bosch, who founded SmartSweets in 2015, will remain the largest individual shareholder.

SmartSweets has launched Sourmelon Bites, a low-sugar, plant-based take on the classic gummy watermelon slices.

In April, the brand introduced Sweet Chews, its first innovation outside of the gummy category. While fans had been asking for a fruit chew product, the timing wasn’t ideal, with the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Developed without the use of added sugars, sugar alcohols and artificial sweeteners, each 1.6-oz. bag of Sweet Chews contains 10 grams of fiber and 3 grams of sugar.

SmartSweets is adding Peach Rings to its lineup of plant-based gummies.
