The American Society of Baking (ASB) introduces a Product Development Competition to facilitate the development of innovative bakery products for the wholesale manufacturing industry. The competition is open to teams of students and individual professionals.
Entries must consist of a proposal for a new bakery product. Judges will evaluate the potential success of each entry in today’s market and the technical problem-solving skills used in product development.
All submissions are due Nov. 1, and finalists will be announced Dec. 1. Final proposals will be due Feb. 1, 2015. Presentations and product sampling by judges will be held March 1, and the winners will be announced March 4 at an awards ceremony.
The student team winning first place will receive $2,000 and a trophy; the runner-up team will receive $1,000 and a plaque. The professional team winning first place will receive $750 and a trophy; the runner-up team will receive a plaque.
