Otto Schnering was so impressed with a jungle scene at Chicago's Navy Pier that he donated 10,000 candy bars to the Marines. William C. Moller (left, standing), treasurer of Curtiss, presented teh candy to Lt. Col. G. McGuire Pierce (center, standing) of the Marine Provisional Battalion. During the war, 80% of candy bar product at Curtiss's six Chicago plants went to post exchanges and canteens. Virtually all of its hard candy went to Army C rations.
