There’s a delicious new record on the books.
North Hollywood, Calif.-based Candy Factory, which dubs itself as the “Candymaker to the Stars,” has made the world’s largest peanut butter cup — weighing in at a whopping 441.5 lbs.
The previous record was held by a chocolate shop in Vermont, which created a peanut butter cup weighing 230 lbs.
The Candy Factory topped the record, and brought the title to the West Coast by using more than 250 pounds of chocolate and peanut butter combined in a huge 6-ft. round, 15-inch. high mould to create the "World’s Largest Peanut Butter Cup".
An application has been filed with Guinness World Records to make it official.
The company created the treat with help from some of its celebrity clients, who were on hand to help verify the weight and help stir the chocolate.
Once verified, the leviathan peanut butter cup will be cut up in pieces and sold in boxes with custom labels identifying it as a piece of the "World’s Largest Peanut Butter Cup".
The proceeds will be split between two charities: The Thalians, in support of UCLA's Operation Mend, and Precious Paws, which supports Pet Rescue.
Celebrities helping out included actress Ruta Lee, Susan Olsen (Cindy Brady on The Brady Bunch), game show host Wink Martindale, comedian Judy Tenuta, and actress Kira Reed Lorsch.
