If, as famed French painter Henri Matisse exclaimed, “Creativity takes courage,” then Crummy Gummy, a.k.a. The Gummy Bear Artist, is plenty brave. His latest collection of gummy bear art — viciously inspired by famous icons of the runway — will be displayed at the Chicago-based candy store Candyality later this month as part of a Gummy Bear Pop Up Shop.
Gummy bear lamps, backpacks, key chains, pillows, pj’s, 5-lb. MEGA gummy bears, and more will be on display and available for purchase.
The Florida-based artist draws inspiration from fashion icons for his creations, including “Heidi, the Kardashian clan, [and] Marilyn.”
“Crummy Gummy is influenced by social commentary, humor, craftsmanship, and colorful depictions of life through a Gummy Bear’s eyes,” reads a media release from Candyality. “If you think Giuliana has good taste, Kelly rocks it, or Joan Rivers is mean, these bears are heartless….literally.”
The store will house the collection from Aug. 24-Sept. 6 at its Water Tower Place location, 835 N. Michigan Ave-Level 7. The artist also will be available for a meet and greet from 2 to 4 p.m. on Sat., Aug. 25,
Candyality has three Chicago locations, and offers patrons a chance to have personality test readings based on their favorite sweets.
