Tastykake recently announced the release of its line of limited edition fall offerings, which are available now at grocery stores across the country through November 18.
In addition to Otis Spunkmeyer celebrating its 40th anniversary, the brand has also released a brand new line of “Grab-N-Go” foods, sold exclusively at convenience stores across the country and made with “No Funky Stuff” – aka no artificial flavors, colors, partially hydrogenated oils or high fructose corn syrup.
When thinking of a traditional snack cake, the classic Hostess CupCake may come to mind. However, while the classics endure, snack cakes have evolved a long way since the 1919 birth of the product. Modern-day snack cakes aren’t necessarily as indulgent as their predecessors, but at the same time, they manage to not sacrifice taste, either.
Whether center-of-store or along the perimeter in the fresh bakery section, sweet goods are on the rise. According to the 2017 “What’s in Store” report from the International Dairy Deli Bakery Association, in-store bakeries have experienced much success over the past five years, soaring 51 percent in total annual sales to reach $15.7 billion dollars, enjoying a 7.9 percent increase in the past year alone.
