Barry Callebaut, Unilever donate soap to cocoa farmers in Cote D’Ivoire

Companies provided and distributed 10,000 pieces of soap.

May 5, 2020

Barry Callebaut has joined forces with Unilever to provide soap to cocoa farming communities in Cote D’Ivoire.

The World Health Organization recommends that frequent hand washing with soap and water is an important protective measure against the spread of COVID-19. However, in rural communities, access to soap can be difficult.

Unilever presented a donation of 10,000 pieces of soap to Barry Callebaut, which managed the distribution to Unilever cocoa farmer cooperatives.

In addition, Barry Callebaut has committed to further supporting farmer communities with:

  • The distribution of official WHO posters with COVID-19 protective instructions to farmer groups, via local coaches.
  • Supporting governmental dissemination of evolving and urgent information to remote communities, via our coaching networks.
